Learn About Why a Partial Wrap for a Van May be Right for You
Scenario
Client wanted to upgrade their van that they travel with and use a lot for their business. As with most small businesses, when installing vinyl wrap, they often cannot go very long without their vehicle. This client needed their van back within 8 hours! This meant prepping the vehicle, lining up the printed vinyl panels so that everything fits and looks as designed and then installing the van wrap without mistakes and have it ready before end of day! No pressure, just another day man!
Prepping the Van for Vinyl Wrap Installation
Prepping for vehicle has some challenges when compared to vehicle straight from the car dealership but nothing that is considered the norm. The paint was starting to fade and when rubbed by your hands it would leave a white powder, so one crucial step is to make sure the vehicle is clean and free of oil and debris before installing the vinyl wrap. If this is skipped, then you run the risk of the debris showing through the vinyl. Often when customizing an older vehicle, you run the risk of break dry-rotted clips, broken clips, etc. and on this install, the door handles were not going to be coming off; meaning the the vinyl wrap installer will have to work around the door handle without removing it and do their best to create a "clean look". Type of Vinyl Wrap Material & Installation Process
3M ink jet 1080 series has a good air release and stretch without risking color fading and pixel distortion. Although the stretch is better than most of the competition, we decided to cut the window out and lay the vinyl versus heating the vinyl and stretching it into the groove. Often times you will see company vehicles and notice bubbles in the window, if the wrap installer decided to cut the window out then it would alleviate and bubbling or failing over time.
